This may not help at all, but it's worth trying since it's easy enough to do, when your issue occurs try the following... press CTRL+ALT+F2 (i.e. hold CTRL+ALT then press F2), wait some odd seconds, then press CTRL+ALT+F7 and see if things work again or not. towel tail
